We'd like to take a minute to address some changes taking place at Worth Takeaway. As we have hopefully conveyed in our first year of business, we hold quality of ingredients, dedication to craft and producing great food as well as taking care of our staff and community in the highest regard. We have not set out to create just mediocre sandwiches at or below industry standards, but introduce creative, thoughtful food that is exciting as well as supportive of other local farms and businesses. Doing this comes at a price. With the nature of the food system in our country, things are not as they should be; organic is unnatural and we have to go out of our way to get things the way mother nature intended. When we set out to price our menu we looked at the quality of the ingredients we used, the cost of the staff to make it all from scratch and the higher value of sourcing what we could not do ourselves from a local expert.
All of this taken into account, the climate has changed and decisions outside of our realm of control have been made. Proposition 206 was recently passed, increasing the minimum wage and therefore changing the cost of doing business. While we take pride in the fact that our kitchen staff was already making the newly instated minimum wage, this change effects our service staff as well as the cost of goods purchased from many of our partners and distributors, thus increasing the price of many of the products we use at Worth. We did not take this decision lightly and after much consideration, we felt that the quality of our food should not suffer for this. As of January 15, 2017, Worth will be increasing the price point on many menu items to ensure that we are doing our due diligence to our staff and the community, with the goal of never sacrificing the food that we serve. We hope that you see and understand why this difficult decision was made and can appreciate all of the care that goes into your food.
Our new pricing will be posted shortly and we encourage you to reach out to us via email or at the store if you have any questions surrounding this change.
